This book is a natural expansion of my popular book The Way We Talk
and Other Antiguan & Barbudan Folkways. It addresses a need to pro
vide an educational reference for our school children and others inter
ested in a broader exploration of us as a people.
The section entitled Trailblazers and Patriots is especially designed to
inspire young people and in fact the general public. It shows them that
although it is important to reach for the stars, to fulfil one’s dreams,
that should not be their only aspiration in life. Working to benefit other
people and the nation brings much satisfaction to the giver and, in many
instances, an important lifeline to the recipients.
